How to add your knowledge

Enhancements to selection in various tools

Selection methods have been improved for the Query Edit, Pick CoS, and Set Planar tools, as well as for picking shells.

Filter added to Query Edit pick chooser

A filter has been added to the pick chooser in Object Edit > Query Edit to remove items from the list that do not have history. The only items that now show up on the pick chooser list are items that have history and can be edited.

    New options for picking curves-on-surface

Visual curves-on-surface can now be picked independently from geometry curves-on-surface through the new Pick > Object Types > Curve on Surface option box.

Select the type of curves-on-surface you want to pick. Both are selected by default.

Visual curves-on-surface are produced by tools such as Cross Section Editor, Parting Line, Highlights, and so on.

Left: Geometry curve-on-surface. Right: Visual curves-on-surface.

Chain Select added to Set Planar tool

We added the Chain Select option to the Surfaces > Planar Surfaces > Set Planar tool. If this option is selected when you select a curve/surface edge, all curves/surface edges that are tangent continuous are selected.

Click an edge to chain select all tangent edges.

Box-select curves with Selection Options enabled to add or remove individual curves.

    Ability to Face Select shells

If Face selection is turned on in Preferences > Selection Options, you can now select shells by clicking on their faces (that is, inside the wireframe) in the same way as surfaces.

    Surfacing tools respect Selection Options

The following tools now support Selection Options:

    • Surfaces > Multi-Surface Fillet > Surface Fillet
    • Surfaces > Multi-Surface Fillet > Symmetric Fillet
    • Surfaces > Multi-Surface Blend > Profile Blend
    • Surfaces > Rolled Edge > Fillet Flange
    • Surfaces > Rolled Edge > Tube Flange
    • Surfaces > Rolled Edge > Tubular Offset
    • Surfaces > Rolled Edge > Panel Gap
    • Surfaces > Multi-Surface Draft
NoteThe two new tools, Profile and Skin, also support Selection Options.
