This area is designed to be a collaborative work on information related to migrating from a previous to a newer release of AutoCAD.
Migration is the process of taking custom settings and files from one release of AutoCAD to another release of AutoCAD.
The goal of migration is to bring as many custom settings and files to the release that you are migrating tool. There are a number of factors that play into how settings and files can be migrated.
To help with the migration process, Autodesk offers a number of different tools; which tools you use is based on what and how much of AutoCAD you have customized. Tools are not available for each and every file type that you might need to migrate to get the new release to perform and behave like the release you are migrating from. For a list of tools available, see Available Tools.
This guide is designed to help you understand some and eventually all of the ups and downs of migrating in AutoCAD.
