The ASI State is a Constructware-defined attribute that determines whether the ASI is valid, whether it is a preliminary draft, and who has access to it or can edit it.

    ASI States include:

    • Active– You can modify the ASI and users can respond to it.
    • Draft– The ASI is preliminary, and only accessible by users with Change or Administrator permission, or the From \ or Created By user on the ASI. This functionality allows users to enter ASI information into the system, but not release it until it has been reviewed and approved for release. By default, new documents have a state of Draft. To release a draft ASI, edit the ASI and change the status to Active.
    • Void– By default, voided ASIs do not show in the log. To access voided ASIs, select the Show Voided checkbox at the top of the log. You cannot delete voided ASIs, nor can you reclaim their ASI number. This restriction enforces strict accountability of all ASIs and ASI numbers. It also provides a way to remove unwanted ASIs from the log, reports, and other portions of Constructware. Only users with Administrator permission, or the From and Created By user of the document, can void an ASI.
    • Locked– Permanently locks an ASI, preserving the ASI for record keeping. You cannot delete locked ASIs. If there is a response, the response is also locked. Locked ASIs cannot be unlocked, but you can create new versions by clicking the Revise button. Only users who created the ASI or users with Administrator permission can revise a locked ASI.

ASI Status: You can use the ASI Status field for your own tracking purposes within the ASI module. For example, your company might have named phases that ASIs pass through during the ASI process, or, you might want to use this field to note ASIs that are not yet closed. The ASI Status list is one of the many "soft" lists that you can modify in the Lookup Tables module in the Maintenance folder. These status values display on the ASI and you can use them to monitor the ASI. They do not control the visibility of the ASI or affect its State.
