Module Customization Tabs

    Navigation: MaintenanceData MaintenanceModule Customization

Module customization contains the following tabs:

The tabs that display depend on which module is selected.

    General Tab

On the General tab, you select the numbering method for the project, when you access the Module Customization at the project level. You can define the “client” defaults that are applied site-wide in MaintenanceData Maintenance.

    Attributes Tab

Determines the default source and values for certain fields on the invoice on the Attributes tab. For example, you can select the invoice date to automatically default to today’s date or today’s date +/ a certain number of days.

Additionally, for certain Cost Management modules (Cost Events, RCOs, OCOs, CCOs, Contracts, POs, POCOs, and Invoices) you can determine whether and the manner in which the child document's state or status is updated when you change the parent document's state or status.

Update Rules: When you choose to update the status or state of a document, you can only change the state or status of the document's cost items if those items do not exist as part of another document.

The options to update the Cost Items are:

    • Always
    • After a Prompt
    • Never

Custom Fields: You can create custom fields to capture and report specific information and values that are unique to your organization.

Custom Fields Interactions to view a list of document types for which you can create custom fields.

    Standard Terms and Exhibits Tabs

Use the Standard Terms and Exhibits tabs for:

    • Contracts
    • Purchase Orders

This tab appears only for the Contracts and PO modules.

    Routing Tab

Routing is a feature available in select modules that allows you to define an electronic work flow for a document.

    Routing Documents for more information.

Routing Interactions to the modules for which the routing feature is available.

    View Options Tab

Allows you to define the Standard and Header View Options for a document. The tab contains two sections: The Header Options and the Standard Options. The values you choose here determine the view and output of a document.

    Header Options

    • Display Document Date: The Constructware Default is Off.
    • Display Fax Number: Controls whether the fax number in the common header shows. The Constructware Default is On.
    • Display Phone Number: Controls whether the phone number in the common header shows. The Constructware Default is On.
    • Display View Date: The Constructware Default is On.
    • Title Block: Determines what appears inside the box at the top of the header. The Constructware Default is the Doc Type Label. Clicking the Standard radio button displays the document type in the header of the document. Clicking the radio button next to the blank field allows you to enter your own customized title.

Standard Options: The Constructware defaults for standard options are as follows:

    • Display All Custom Fields - On
    • Display Comments - Off
    • Display Distribution - On
    • Display Linked Documents - On

    Masking Tab

Constructware allows you, Constructware users/supervisors, to mask selected fields within a module. This means that you can either hide fields, or make them "read-only".

The Masking tab allows you to create a Masking template where you specify the data fields to be unmasked, read-only, or hidden in the viewed or printed document. You can create several templates, but can only use one template per module at any one time across your site.

Constructware templates cannot be edited. To use a similar format, select the Constructware masking template and click Copy. You can then edit the template copy.

Examples: Hide the Initial Estimate Cost and Initial Estimate Time fields on the General tab of a Cost Event so users cannot this data at all.

    • Display status of each field will be: Unmasked, Read Only, Hidden
    • Display status of each tab will be: Unmasked, Read Only, Hidden

The masking feature is available for the following modules:

    Modules

    Alternate

    Call (Personal & Project Calls)

    CCO

    Cost Event

    Contracts

    CCD**

    CCO

    Design Review

    Invoice

    Issue

    Master Agreement

    Meetings Agenda and Minutes

    OCO

**Moving individual options under Proposed Adjustments will lead to loss of data if options have been used on existing documents and are later hidden. Data loss would occur when a document is edited and saved, as existing data would be hidden from users.

    Labels Tab

On the Labels tab, you can customize field labels according to your business practices. To do this, you can create a Label template where you specify the labels to bear the standard Constructware-issued name or a name specified by you on the viewed or printed document. You can create several templates, but can only use one template per module at any one time across your site.

You cannot edit the Constructware templates. To use a similar format, select the masking template and click Copy. You can then edit the template copy.

You can customize labels for the following modules:

You can also set up alternate module names to display in place of the regular Constructware module names. The alternate names that you define in this module will be specific to your company only and will apply to every user on this site. The Rename Modules feature is available for the following modules:

    Modules

    Bid Packages

    Bid Solicitations

    CCOs

    Contracts

    Cost Events

    Cost Items

    Invoices

    Issues

    OCOs

    Purchase Orders

    POCOs

    RCOs

    RFIs

    Rules Tab

Rules check that values saved in cost-related fields (in Cost Events, Cost Items, and POs) meet certain specified conditions. A cost event must agree with all conditions before you can save the values.

    You can find Rules in:

    • Cost Events
    • Cost Items
    • POs
