The System User (MAPSYS) is the server component of the enterprise industry model . MAPSYS is the system database schema that stores application settings and server-side procedures.
The Infrastructure Administrator and enterprise industry model logins require the credentials for the System User (MAPSYS).
If needed, you can install multiple MAPSYS users in the same Oracle server. For example, if you need to run two enterprise industry model versions side by side. Using Industry Model Setup , you can manage each MAPSYS independently. Note that each MAPSYS would need its own set of industry models, because the industry model version and the MAPSYS version must match, and you cannot work with industry models of an older version.
If you do not want to provide the MAPSYS credentials to all enterprise industry model users, you can create a Main User (MAPMAIN). MAPMAIN has restricted rights on MAPSYS: administrative users must connect through MAPSYS. Non-administrative users can log in to the enterprise industry model using MAPMAIN rather than MAPSYS.
If you are an administrative user, logging in using the Main User (MAPMAIN) credentials disables your administrative privileges. For example, you cannot log in to Infrastructure Administrator using MAPMAIN, and you cannot use the administrator functionality of the enterprise industry model, such as editing all viewports, administering filter definitions, or managing reference records.
To work with the enterprise industry model, we recommend that you connect to the Main User MAPMAIN. When you are connected to MAPMAIN, administrator functionality is not available.
