If needed, you can install multiple MAPSYS users in the same Oracle server. For example, if you need to run two enterprise industry model versions side by side. Using , you can manage each MAPSYS independently. Note that each MAPSYS would need its own set of industry models, because the industry model version and the MAPSYS version must match, and you cannot work with industry models of an older version.
If you do not want to provide the MAPSYS credentials to all enterprise industry model users, you can create a Main User (MAPMAIN). MAPMAIN has restricted rights on MAPSYS: administrative users must connect through MAPSYS. Non-administrative users can log in to the enterprise industry model using MAPMAIN rather than MAPSYS.
If you are an administrative user, logging in using the Main User (MAPMAIN) credentials disables your administrative privileges. For example, you cannot log in to Infrastructure Administrator using MAPMAIN, and you cannot use the administrator functionality of the enterprise industry model, such as editing all viewports, administering filter definitions, or managing reference records.
