    Manage Styles and Style Catalogs

    From the Style Palette, you can manage both styles and style catalogs. You can perform tasks such as renaming a style, altering the display of style thumbnails, copying the current style catalog, or deleting styles or style catalogs.

    To manage styles

    1. – Click Style Palette, if it's not already open.
    2. From the Style Editing group, select the option you want to use to manage your styles.
      • - Click to add a new style in the current style catalog.

        For more information about adding new styles, see Add Catalogs and Styles.

      • – Click to delete a selected style from the current style catalog.
      • – Click to copy a style from one catalog to another.

        You'll be prompted to select the catalogs into which you can copy the style. Only catalogs for the current style type are available.

      • – Click to make a copy of the current style in the current catalog.

        Use this if you want to create a new style based on an existing style in the catalog that is currently open.

      • – Click to rename a style.

        The name under the thumbnail image will highlight so you can enter a new name.

    To manage style catalogs

    1. – Click Style Palette, if it's not already open.
    2. From the Style Editing group, select the option you want to use to manage your styles.
      • – Click to change the size of the style previews.

        Move the slider to make the preview images larger or smaller. Your changes only affect the current tab.

      • - Click to add a new catalog in the current style category.

        For more information about adding new catalogs, see Add Catalogs and Styles.

      • – Click to delete the currently active style catalog.
        NoteIf you mistakenly remove a catalog, you can restore it by importing it.
      • – Click to import a catalog file.

      • – Click to make a duplicate of the current catalog.

        Use this if you want to create a new catalog based on an existing catalog. All styles contained in the original catalog are also copied into the new catalog.

      • – Click to rename a catalog.

        The Change Catalog Name dialog box is displayed. Rename the catalog and click OK.

    To import a catalog

    1. – Click Style Palette, if it's not already open.
    2. Click the tab for the appropriate style category.

      For example, to import a material style, click the Material tab.

    3. – Click Import an Existing Style Catalog from File.
    4. Navigate to the XML file containing the catalog.
    5. Select the file and click Open.

      If the catalog you selected is not compatible with the style category, you are informed that the catalog cannot be added.
