Adjust Control Points

    Table of contents
    No headers

Move control points to change boundaries and paths.

Control points appear as magenta cubes associated with objects you create using the sketching tools. Control points allow you to change the shape of a building footprint, alter the course of a roadway, or modify the boundary of a pond.

    Object Description Visual

    Buildings

Control points appear at each corner along the perimeter of the building footprint.

Roads / Railways / City Furniture

Objects that use paths display their control points at the ends and corners.

Water Areas / Coverages / Tree Groups

Objects that are defined by boundaries have control points at each corner.

    Individual Trees / City Furniture

Individually sketched objects like a single tree or piece of city furniture have a control point at their base.

To modify objects by adjusting control points

    1. – Click Create / Edit Features.

      The Draw Strip displays.

    2. – In the Draw Strip, click Edit Existing Features, if not currently enabled.
    3. Select an object you would like to modify.
    4. Place your cursor on one of the control points.
    5. Click and drag the cursor to a new location.
    6. Watch the readout and release the mouse button when the control point is in the desired location.

Result: For buildings, the footprint is changed while the height is maintained. For roads, railways, or paths of city furniture, the path is changed and a new course is displayed. For water areas, tree groups, or coverages, the boundary is adjusted to cover more or less space. For individual trees and pieces of city furniture, the object is moved on the XY plane as if using the Move gizmo.
