    2. Display the style to edit.
      • On the left side of the Style Palette, click the tab for the type of style to edit.
      • Select the appropriate style catalog from the drop-down list.
    3. Select the style you want to edit and click (Make a Local Copy) to duplicate an existing style before you edit it.

It is a good idea to copy an existing style instead of changing the original version.

    4. Double-click the new copy of the style to edit its properties.

You can also select the style and click (Edit the Properties of the Selected Style).

    5. In the Style Editor dialog box, your options depend on the type of style you are editing:
      Type of Style Editing Description
      Barrier

To change the dimensions of the barrier style, enter new values in the Thickness (the buffer along the polyline representing the barrier), Height, Length (the length of one barrier segment), and Spacing fields. Spacing controls how far apart each barrier is from the next when you draw multiple barriers. All dimensions use the default unit of measurement.

To change the material used for any face of the barrier, click the browse button for its Material field. Select the appropriate category from the drop-down list, and then click the style you want.

Click and drag in the preview to rotate the barrier image. To return to the original preview orientation, click Reset Preview.

      Coverage

The coverage and border materials can be any of the following: a material or color, a material group, a semi-transparent material, or none.

To change the material used for the interior area of the coverage, click the browse button for its Fill Style field. Select the appropriate category from the drop-down list, and then click the style you want.

To change the material used for the borders of the coverage, click the browse button for its Outline Style field. Select the appropriate category from the drop-down list, and then click the style you want.

To change the width of the border, enter a different value in the Outline Width field.

NoteYou can apply more than one fill/border combination to a subset or a data source, using a style rule.
      3D Model

To use a different 3D model to style an object, click the browse button for Model URI and specify the new model. You must specify a file of the type FBX, 3DS, OBJ, DAE, or DXF.

Translation moves the model along the specified axis. To change the value for the Translation, enter a positive or negative number for the X, Y, or Z axes. For example, to move the model to the right, enter a positive value for X.

Rotation changes the angle of the model. To change the value for Rotation, enter values in degrees for the X, Y, or Z axes. For example, to turn the model perpendicular to its original position on the ground, enter 90 in the Z field.

To resize the model, enter multiplying values for Scaling for the X, Y, or Z axes. For example, to make the model twice as tall, enter 2 in the Z field.

Click and drag in the preview to rotate the model image. You can also display the bounding box for the image, or display the preview on a grid. When you display a grid, you can control the grid spacing. To return to the original preview orientation, click Reset Preview.

      Material

Textures can use either a texture or a color. To use a color, select the Color radio button. Then click the Color browse button and select a color.

To specify the image used for the texture, select the Texture radio button. Then click the Texture browse button and specify the texture file. You must specify a file of the type PNG or JPG.

The texture is applied in tiles whose size is specified by Width and Height. These are expressed in the default unit of measurement. To change the tile size, enter new Width and Height values. You may not see the direct effect of your changes, as the seams of the tiles are not visible, but the texture will appear looser or tighter when it is applied.

By default, the anchor point for a texture is 0,0. To specify a different anchor point, select TexCoord Anchor and enter new values for X and Y. You can also specify a Rotation Angle for the texture. This will rotate the texture at the angle you specify, from the anchor point specified.

      Material Group

Material groups are used for complex styles, such as highways and railways. Specify the material or color for any component of the material group by double-clicking its Material field.

To add a component to the material group style, click (Add Material).

To remove a component, select it and click (Remove Selected Material).

      Pipe Connector

To change the shape of a pipe connector style, select a new value from the Type drop-down.

TipFor diamond-shaped connectors, use a rectangle Type and change the Orientation to 45 degrees.

To change the dimensions of the connector style, enter new values in the Width and Height fields. All dimensions use the default unit of measurement.

To change the material used for the connector tube or cap, click the browse button for Tube Material or Cap Material. Select the appropriate category from the drop-down list, and then click the style you want. If the cap is offset from the tube, enter a value in the Cap Offset field.

Click and drag in the preview to rotate the connector image. To return to the original preview orientation, click Reset Preview.

      Pipeline

To change the shape of a pipe style, select a new value from the Type drop-down.

TipFor diamond-shaped pipes, use a rectangle Type and change the Orientation to 45 degrees.

To change the dimensions of the pipeline style, enter new values in the Width and Height fields. All dimensions use the default unit of measurement.

To change the material used for the pipe surface, click the browse button for Surface Effect. Select the appropriate category from the drop-down list, and then click the style you want.

Click and drag in the preview to rotate the pipe image. To return to the original preview orientation, click Reset Preview.

TerrainYou cannot edit terrain styles, but you can theme terrain by aspect, slope, or height and you can make terrain transparent.
      Water Area

To adjust the Buffer Width (the border between the water feature and surrounding features), Bank Width (the ground surrounding the water feature), or Water Level Offset (the depth of the water), adjust the sliders.

NoteIn order to set negative water levels, you must first click the box to the left of the Water Level Offset and select a negative value from the list. Then you can use the slider to indicate negative water levels.

To change the material used for the water surface or for the bank, click the browse button for Surface Material or Bank Material. Select the appropriate category from the drop-down list, and then click the style you want. The Water Shader style animates the water surface.
