CityGML is an open data model and XML-based format for storing and sharing virtual 3D city models.

By default, each imported CityGML object uses the model/geometry/representation associated with it in its data file. To use an Infrastructure Modeler style instead, use the Properties panel to change the Model Visible attribute to False. Then apply the style.

    1. Click Home tab File:Infrastructure_Modeler/enu/2013/Help/0217-For_Subs217/0239-Add_Item239/0248-To_impor248/ac.menuaro.gif Import panel File:Infrastructure_Modeler/enu/2013/Help/0217-For_Subs217/0239-Add_Item239/0248-To_impor248/ac.menuaro.gif Data Sources, if the Data Sources panel is not displayed.
    2. On the Data Sources panel, do the following:
      • Click (Add File Data Source).
      • Click CityGML.
      • Navigate to the folder where files are stored and select the model file.

Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler 2013 supports .GML and .XML files.

      • Click Open.
    3. If the Choose Data Sources dialog box displays, select the data to import.

A CityGML file can contain multiple data types.

    4. In the Data Sources panel, select the imported data.

To set common properties for all CityGML data types, hold down the Shift or Ctrl key and select all the CityGML data sources.

    5. Click (Configure Data Source).
    6. In the Data Source Configuration dialog box, do the following:
      • On the Common tab, specify the properties that map to the Name and Description.

If you selected a single data type, specify the Type and any type-specific properties.

      • On the CityGML tab, specify the LOD (level of detail) for the selected data sources.
      • To change the coordinate system, origin, offset, scale, or rotation for the data, click the Geo Location tab.

If you change the coordinate system, make sure to specify the coordinate system of the incoming data (not the coordinate system of the model). If the imported data uses a different coordinate system than your model uses, Infrastructure Modeler will transform the data to the model's coordinate system, without changing the original data store.

      • Click Close & Refresh to apply your changes and see the results in the model.
