    No headers

The ribbon displays automatically when you create or open a file. It  provides a palette of all commands necessary to create or modify your file.

You can display the ribbon either horizontally or vertically.

    • The horizontal ribbon is located across the top of the application window.
    • You can dock the vertical ribbon to the left or right of the application window, or float it in the file window or on a second monitor.

You can minimize the ribbon using the ribbon minimize button to the right of the ribbon tabs.

To turn on and off the visibility of all controls, click the View tabac.menuaro.gif Clean Screen command.

    Ribbon Tabs and Panels

The ribbon is composed of a series of panels, which are organized into tabs labeled by task.

Some ribbon panels display a drop-down arrow, which indicates there are additional commands related to that panel. Click the drop-down arrow to access the additional commands.

To display a hidden panel, or hide a panel, right-click anywhere inside the ribbon, and select or clear the name of the panel. .

    Sticky Panels

You can pull a panel off a ribbon tab and into the drawing area or onto another monitor. That panel sticks where you place it, and remains open until you return it to the ribbon, even if you switch ribbon tabs.

    Expanded Panels

An arrow at the bottom of a panel title indicates that you can expand the panel to display additional commands. By default, an expanded panel closes automatically when you click another panel. To keep a panel expanded, click the push pin icon in the bottom-left corner of the expanded panel.

    Contextual Ribbon Tabs

When you enter a specialized environment, such as Inventor Studio, AEC Exchange, or Sketch, a special contextual ribbon tab is available that provides access to commands specific to that environment. The contextual tab and associated panels display in green to provide visual feedback that you are in a specialized environment. The contextual tab closes when you exit that environment.
