Set parameters for calculation of clamping joints.

Use these calculators to calculate and design clamping joints. Three types of clamping joints are available:

    • Separated Hub Joint
    • slotted Hub joint
    • Cone Joint

    Procedures

    Calculate separated joints

    1. On the ribbon, click Design tabPower Transmission panelSeparated Hub Calculator.
    2. In the Calculation tab, enter calculation parameters.
    3. Click Calculate to perform the calculation. Results are displayed in the Results area.
    4. If the calculation results are satisfactory, click OK to insert separated hub joint calculation to the Autodesk Inventor Assembly.

This procedure creates an example using the sample specifications.

    Sample Data:

    • Required Torque: T = 40-lb ft
    • Clamping Factor: n = 0.08
    • Type of Loading: static
    • Shaft Diameter: d = 1 in
    • Hub Length: L = 1.5 in
    • Number of Joint Bolts: N = 4
    • Material: steel grade 37

    1. Start the Separated Hub Joint Calculator.

This procedure creates an example using the sample specifications.

    Sample Data:

    • Torque: T = 20-lb ft
    • Major Diameter D = 2.4 in
    • Joint Length L = 5.5 in
    • Material: steel grade 60

    1. Start the Cone Joint Calculator.
    2. On the Calculation tab:
