In the Parts List dialog box, click the + sign in front of a parent row in a structured parts list to display all child component rows. Alternatively, right-click a parent row, and click Expand All Children.
TipTo enable expanding child rows in a parts list, in the bill of materials, set the Structured view to show All Levels.
obourneTue Mar 27, 2012 2:51 pmNot sure why this is new. It's been aroung since R3 at least.
Maybe I'm missing something.
neil.crossTue Apr 17, 2012 6:35 amYep it's definitely been around for a while. I've studied the Whats New pages carefully for the last few years and this has happened every year, they put something in which has been around for years and is in fact not new. My theory is that they need to beef up this section due to the lack of actual new content, or somebody within Product Support got sick of being asked how to do this and asked for it to be slotted in here!
MariaManuelaThu Apr 26, 2012 7:37 amAccording to my experience, in the past (2012 and earlier) this function was only allowed if the user create a Structured (Legacy) BOM view otherwise would not be possible.
So.... I do not consider a 2013 new but an improvement. You must agree that is much simpler now. :)
It seems that we can activate the "structured" option from the parts list in a drawing and don't need to go to the assembly BOM to activate it.
rossWed Feb 20, 2013 7:50 amSomething must be wrong with my installation because I am not capable of creating structured Parts Lists. No matter what changes I make to the assembly BOM, I only get "parts only" parts lists. Help!
This is a strange one. Are you up to date on all service packs? If you are, I would suggest you contact product support or use the Inventor discussion group to troubleshoot the issue. Here is the link to the discussion group:
