![]() | ![]() | A hole table contains the information for either all holes, selected holes, or extruded cuts (except midplane extrusions) in a selected drawing view. |
If you add a hole table to a view, a hole tag is associated to each selected hole and a corresponding row is added in the table. In addition to individual holes, a hole table can include extruded cuts (except midplane extrusions) and holes in iFeatures, patterns, center marks, and sheet metal flat patterns.
If holes are added or removed from the model, or an existing hole is changed, the hole table is updated when the drawing updates.
The location of the holes in a hole table is measured relative to an origin indicator that is constrained to a point in the view. You place the origin indicator for a view the first time you place a hole table for the view. You can hide an origin indicator after it is placed, but you cannot delete it.
Place the origin indicator on the view where it is easily located and makes sense for all holes, such as a corner of a plate or other easily located place.
If necessary, you can offset the origin indicator from its original position. When you move the origin point, the hole table updates automatically.
A hole table uses formats defined in the active hole table style for the drawing. Set up the formats before placing a hole table. You can edit the content of a table row after a hole table is created. Right-click a row in the hole table, and select Edit Description Text.
You can also edit the content of a hole note and hole tag.
You can modify the default format and options for hole tables. Right-click a hole table, and select Edit Hole Table. In the Edit Hole Table dialog box, you modify the settings in the hole table style.
When a hole table is created, alphanumeric auto-indexing is used to generate hole identifiers for holes included in the table. Optionally, exclude particular characters from the auto-indexing sequence on the General tab of the Standard Style panel.
When you publish a drawing containing a hole table, it is also published to DWF file. Click ![]()

Add a hole table to a drawing view
You can include all holes in the table, select holes to include in the table, or select holes of a specific type to include in the table.
In addition to individual holes, a hole table can include extruded cuts (except mid-plane extrusions), iFeatures, holes in patterns, center marks, and sheet metal flat patterns.
The default format for the hole description in the table is controlled by the associated dimension style of the hole tag. You can customize the display of the table after you place it.

Add extruded cuts to a hole table
A hole table can include holes created as hole features and holes resulting from extruded cuts (except mid-plane extrusions), such as slots and other shapes.
If you have not included center marks in your hole table style definition, you can add an extruded cut using the following procedure:
After placing a hole table, you can add or remove holes, change the table options, split the table into two sections, or export the table to an ASCII text file.
In addition to regular hole features, you can edit hole tables containing extruded cuts (except midplane extrusions), iFeatures, iParts, holes in patterns, and sheet metal flat patterns.
You can add holes to an existing hole table. The holes must be in the view associated with the table.
Remove a hole from a hole table
You can remove holes or nonhole features from the hole table. When you remove a hole from the table, the associated hole tag is removed from the drawing view.
To edit the content of a hole tag :
To change the style of a hole tag:
You may have to modify the location of a hole if design demands a more or less precise location.
You can specify that two or more custom holes (designated with center marks) are the same. Use one:
Edit hole table format and options
Right-click a hole table in the drawing and select Edit Hole Table to display the Edit Hole Table dialog box. On the Format tab, you can:
On the Options tab, you can:
Click OK to close the Edit Hole Table dialog box.
Add hole dimensions in alternate units
To display dimension values in alternate units, add the alternate unit columns to the table by using the Column Chooser dialog box.
Hide hole tags and origin indicators
You can hide the hole tag and origin indicator in the drawing view.
You can split a hole table into two sections. After creating the sections, you can move each section independently of the other.
You can export hole table data to a standard ASCII text file (.txt), or to a Microsoft Excel file (.csv).

The origin indicator marks the origin point in a drawing view.
You specify the primary position of the origin indicator when you first create ordinate dimensions or a hole table in the drawing view. If you move the origin indicator to a new position, the origin point is moved accordingly and all associated ordinate dimensions and hole tables update automatically.
