Position the Camera in Inventor Studio

Sometimes it is useful to produce rendered images of assemblies with the camera targeted at the origin of the assembly from a specified elevation and rotation.

For example, 30° elevation and 30° rotation from the front face.

The program in the following zip file link was written by Brian Ekins in Visual Basic 2010 Express .

It’s very simple to use.  While you have a part or assembly open, run CameraPosition.exe.  The dialog box shown in the following image is displayed in which you can enter the required camera position.  Press “Apply” to reposition the camera.  The rotations are relative to the front view as defined by the view cube.  Some trial and error is required to determine the positive and negative direction.
