Inventor ETO Server uses Session-Specific Network Licensing, and does not support either Standalone Licensing or Standard Network Licensing. Session-Specific Network Licensing requires a Network Licensing Manager server and is very similar to Standard Network Licensing, with a few exceptions described below.
Every license of Inventor ETO Server entitles customers to 10 (ten) concurrent sessions (or instances).
Customer applications should handle the case where all sessions of a server are in use and no more are available. If you need to support additional concurrent users, there are two options:
You may set up your Network License Manager server on 32bit or 64bit hardware. See the NLM System Requirements.
32bit and 64 bit installers can be downloaded here.
Autodesk’s Session Specific Network Licensing model differs from its Standard Network Licensing model in several ways. You should be aware of the following before attempting to set up a Network License Manager server for Inventor ETO Server:
Setting up a Network License Manager server to manage Inventor ETO Server’s session-specific licenses is exactly the same as setting up a Standard Autodesk Network License Manager server. For more information on how to set up your Network License Manager server, refer to the video: Setting up the Network License Manager for Autodesk Products. This video will walk you through the entire process from using your Serial Number to get a license file, to configuring and starting your license manager server.
It is not recommended that the Network License Manager be on the same machine as Inventor ETO Server. This is not a supported configuration. However, should you choose to do it for testing purposes, you must change the name of the server in the LICPATH.LIC to 127.0.0.1. This file is located in the base install directory of Inventor ETO Server (C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor ETO Server <year>\LICPATH.LIC). Again, it is strongly recommended that you do not put the Network License Manager and Inventor ETO Server on the same machine in your production environment.
For more detailed information, refer to the LicenseAdministration.pdf file located within the install directory of your Autodesk Network License Manager.
Inventor ETO Server is only available for 64bit platforms.
When Installing ETO Server on Windows Server 2008, the .NET Framework 3.5.1 Feature must be installed through the server manager prior to installing ETO Server.
