In the workshared environment, where team members collaborate on the same Revit project, the central server is necessary for managing access to the project.

NOTE: You must allow ICMP requests through the firewall for the local and central Revit servers.

To install and configure the Central server

      1. Extract the revit_2011_ap_rss_win_001_mlp.exe from the Autodesk® Subscription Center page, if you have not already done so.
      2. Run the setup.exe.
      3. Configure the settings. Click Configure on the Begin Installation page.

      5. Select the location for Revit project cache on the Revit Projects Directory page.
Note: It is strongly recommended that the projects and cache folders should be on the local server, and not on the network.
      6. Select the location for shared Revit projects on the Revit Projects Directory page.
