daniel.changWed May 25, 2011 8:25 amThanks for Revit 2012. I have a little problem. When I'm installing the software on 1 of the steps the installer freezes, why is that?
TedMetro1219Thu May 26, 2011 8:33 amI keep getting an error that stalls the install. The errror reads as follows:
Error 1305. Error reading from file D:\x64\RAC2012\ProgramFiles\Autodesk\Root\Program\DGNPro.dll. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
How do I work through this? I can see the file in windows explorer.
paulaplMon Jun 6, 2011 7:09 amThank you for letting us know about the error. Please contact Product Support.

berniedogThu Aug 11, 2011 8:00 pmHello,
What is the purpose of this page? It seems some people have put a lot time into their comments & concerns and everyone is just getting pushed away to product support? I don't get it. If this is not the place to ask for installation help, do not list it as such.
I too am having the same problem as TedMetro1219. This has 'error 1305' happened to me three times today.......
This Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page is a repository for historically common questions. The User Assistance team that writes and compiles this information direct our community to Product Support because that is the best place to resolve installation issues such as this. Installations are dependent on operating systems, hardware, and an infinite combination of conditions that cannot be documented in a neat universal manner. We are sorry you are having problems and hopefully you will share your resolution when it's discovered.

kd0afkMon Aug 22, 2011 12:14 pmI get this error when I install Revit MEP.
! C:\Users\Shawn\Desktop\Autodesk_Revit_MEP_2012_English_Win_32-64bit.exe: CRC failed in Content\ADSKMaterials\2012\ILM\Common~1.cab. The file is corrupt
Also, I don't have any content in my family folders (when I want to add a toilet or anything, I get a "not found" error. I am guessing that the two problems are related but I would like to avoid downloading the demo again because the Akamai downloader took around 24 hours last time. Is there a link to just the file so that I can replace the corrupt one?
Thanks

rcaddellFri Sep 2, 2011 9:11 amSame problem as TedMetro above. Except my error 1305 can't read from file EssentialsDB.dll
Any similar problems out there? Any known or speculative fixes?
Thanks in advance.
linsmigreTue Sep 6, 2011 11:15 amI have been using Revit as a viewer and tool to export drawings into AutoCad. I had an earlier version of Revit on my computer but the architects have updated their copies so I was no longer able to open their files. I uninstalled the version of Revit I had on my machine and attempted to update to the current version. I updated .Net but when I tried to install Revit I keep getting a red 0 with no explanation as to why I can't install the software. Are my problems because I had an earlier version on my machine? I don't want a 30 day trial, we have Revit on another machine here, I know how it works. I need a viewer/Cad exporter.
Thanks for your help.
brukadahTue Sep 6, 2011 7:28 pmCan someone outline the steps involved in Adding Revit content in Revit 2012?
1. Is the content part of the default installation or will be downloaded from the internet?

2.How can i get the Help documentation within Revit 2012 to work..will I need to download it?
3.Are there any links
Thanks

paulaplWed Sep 7, 2011 10:45 amThank you for asking about how to add content during the installation, and also how to locate the online help.
Autodesk Revit content is added during the installation. I've listed some links below that should help, but please contact Product Support to resolve the empty add content screen issue. You can contact Autodesk Product Support here:
http://www.autodesk.com/support.
The Revit content is discussed here:
http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Revit/enu/2012/Help/0000-Revit_In0/0001-Revit_In1/0017-Revit_In17/0018-What_is_18
and here:

The Revit Installation and Licensing Guide is located here:
http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Revit/enu/2012/Help/0000-Revit_In0
The Revit User's Guide is located here:
http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Revit/enu/2012/Help/Revit_User's_Guide
This information should help. Please let us know if you need more information.

brukadahWed Sep 7, 2011 1:21 pmI meant Help documentation (user guide) withing Revit Structure 2012, not online user guide.
I have followed the help you provided, but the add content page is still empty, not able to select any content material to install
May I ask if the Material Library/Template of Revit 2012 is the same with previous versions, say 2011 version? If different, what is different?
I guess Autodesk did not do a good work here.....everybody seem to be having one problem or the other with this version with installation
Again, is these material libraries, templates and User guide part of the downloaded program, or are they maent to be downloaded whiting Add Content window?
Can we have direct link to these materials to avoid waiting forever??????
paulaplWed Sep 7, 2011 2:37 pmTo daniel_chang: Thanks for bringing up the comment about the installer seems to be hanging. Usually, this is due to the content downloading, and you will find that Revit hasn't actually stopped working. If this is not the case, please contact the Autodesk Product Support:
http://www.autodesk.com/support
I hope this is helpful,

chtxsaFri Sep 9, 2011 8:22 amI really wish there was more help for those of us making deployments - the documentation has always been pretty thin in this area. Some questions I have in particular: What is the purpose of choosing between appending vs. merging service packs into the deployment - is there an advantage of one over the other?
And how does one set up the CAD manager channel? I would love to use this to push out updates, but there is no documentation that I can find that adequately explains how to do this, other than "you will need to create an .xml file". Many of us CAD/BIM Managers are just architects and engineers, not IT pros, but it seems like we have to get a second education in programming and script writing to accomplish certain tasks. I don't mean to rant here, but after 4 years of using the product I would've thought there would be more help by now.
paulaplFri Sep 9, 2011 2:03 pmThank you for your comments and questions. It really helps us understand what you need from the learning content. I'm already working on answering your particular questions. Stay tuned.
Have you seen the Revit 2012 Deployment Utility content? It is located here:
http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Revit/enu/Community/Articles/Revit_2012_Deployment_Utility
We created this utility after receiving feedback very similar to yours regarding XML knowledge.
Thanks again for using this forum, and I hope you find the deployment utility helpful,
Thank you for further clarifying this. I strongly suggest you contact the Autodesk Product Support team to help resolve that empty page.
The material libraries and templates are meant to be downloaded during the installation.
During the installation process, there is an option to download the Material Library templates. These are not interchangeable between versions, so if you are running Autodesk Revit Structure 2012, you need the 2012 material libraries and templates.
The Add Content button is used to add content that is developed outside of Autodesk.
You or your company may have created custom content that you want to use while developing Revit models. You use the Add Content button to store these files in an area that Revit can easily find.
The user guide is automatically accessed from Revit, so you don’t need to download it.
There is a difference between Revit content and Revit help content, so the Add Content button does not apply to accessing the help. The 2012 Autodesk Revit User's Guide is available as a file if you do not have an Internet connection. If you do have an internet connection, Revit redirects you to a wiki page that contains the online help content. If you do not have an internet connection, Revit directs you to the offline version of the 2012 Autodesk Revit User's Guide help content. The online content is always the most up-to-date because the wiki is a live document, and is constantly being updated.
Again, thank you for your questions. We appreciate learning where we can make the Revit experience better.
After I've filled in my installation information (serial number and such), I click next, make sure the installationpath is correct, I don't untick any options, click INSTALL and the installation directly jumps to the finishpage and it hasn't installed any software. "Installation complete. Some products failed to install". This means everything in my case, nothing installs and I can't figure out why.
I've tried to manually chose "run as admin", I've tried to install as a 30-day trial. Nothing works. Any suggestions?
