No headers The Revit server should be shut down before maintenance to ensure that all potential points of communication between the Revit application and the central server are disabled.
To shut down the server machine
- IMPORTANT: Notify team members that the server will be unavailable, and ask them to save and close all server-based models and to close Revit.
- Open the Revit Server Administrator. Select the central server node, and click
(lock). - Shut down the server machine.
- When maintenance is complete, restart the server machine.
- Open the Revit Server Administrator.
- Select the central server, and click
(unlock). - Notify team members that the server is available for use.
To shut down the Revit Server application
- Notify team members that the server will be unavailable, and ask them to save and close all server-based workshared models and to close Revit.
- Open the Revit Server Administrator. Select the server node, and click
(lock). - On the server machine, click Start

Server Manager. - In the left pane of the Server Manager, expand the Roles tree node, and select the Internet Services (IIS) Manager node.
- In the IIS Application manager, shutdown the Revit Server application pool.
- In the Windows Task Manager, on the Processes tab, click Show processes from all users. Ensure that no w3wp.exe processes (IIS worker processes) remain. If any remain, end those processes.
- In the Windows Services administration utility, stop the Revit Server Autosync service.
