After replacing central models with versions that have common data files, it is strongly recommended that you delete the model’s cache directories on all local servers to prevent any data corruption.
A common scenario might be when you are housing Revit models from outside partners on your Revit central server and you get an updated version of a model. Since you cannot perform a Save As in Revit to overwrite the existing model and retain the same file name, you must first remove the model from the central server using the Revit Server Administrator. When you remove the model, all cached versions of it on local servers should be cleared automatically by the Revit Server Autosync service within two minutes. You will want to check the Cache folders on the local servers to ensure that the cached versions were cleared. If not, perform the following steps before placing a new version of the model on Revit Server.
Note also that the new version of the model will not repopulate to the cache of any of the local servers until that model is opened by someone connected to that local server. If the model is linked into other models that are actively being worked on, reloading the link will also repopulate the model to the local server cache in question.
