You can export shared parameters from a family or project to a new or existing shared parameter file. Use these steps if there are shared parameters in the family or project that are not in the current shared parameter file. For more information about adding shared parameters, see Adding Shared Parameters to Families and Project Parameters.

Create or open a shared parameter file (the target file to which shared parameters will be exported).
See Setting Up Shared Parameter Files.
Select a shared parameter in a family or a project, as follows:
- In a family: In the Family Editor, click Home tab > Family Types, and select the parameter to export.
- In a project, do one of the following:
  - Click Manage tab > Project Parameters, and select the parameter for export.
  - Create or edit a schedule, and select the parameter to export from the "Available Fields" or "Scheduled Fields" section of the dialog box.
Click Modify or Edit.
In the Parameter Properties dialog, click Export.

NoteThe Export option is not enabled if the selected parameter is already in the current shared parameter file.

A message displays informing you that the shared parameter will be exported to the shared parameter file you set up in Step 1.
Click OK to complete the export.

This page is useless because it provides steps to complete a task but gives no details at all as to where the steps are to be performed. What tab should I be on? How do I get to the correct dialog box?

I agree with Greg. This gets me nowhere.
Evidently there IS a process to Export, but Step #2 is meaningless.
And I see his comment was made in July, noted in September, and 3 months later, is still "being revised"

Sorry we dropped getting this page updated after the first commnets were made. I have gone in and made some updates to make these steps a bit more clear. I added some information to step 2 to explain where you are selecting the parameter for export. I also tried to make it a little more clear this proceedure is to export the parameters to a shared parameter file that does NOT currently contain the parameters being exported.

several times before I understood that if you go the Project Parameter route, you next click on "Modify"
If you get at the parameter using a Schedule, THEN you use "Edit".
Perhaps either Step 3 should be a sub-topic for each option in Step 2, or Step 3 could be worded:
Click Modify (from the Project Parameters dialog) or Edit (from the Schedule Properties dialog)

Better yet, the dialogs could be consistent!
