Creating Project Parameters

    1. Click Manage tabSettings panel (Project Parameters).
    2. In the Project Parameters dialog, click Add.
    3. In the Parameter Properties dialog, select Project parameter.
    4. Enter a name for the project parameter.
      NoteIt is recommended that you do not use a dash (-) when naming parameters.
    5. Select a discipline.
    6. Select the Type of Parameter.
      Parameter TypeDescription
      TextA value that is entered as text. This value is completely customizable.
      Integer A value that is expressed as an integer.
      NumberA value that is numeric. Can have real numbers.
      LengthA value that is the length of an element or sub-component.
      AreaA value that is the area of an element or sub-component.
      VolumeA value that is the volume of an element or sub-component.
      AngleA value that is the angle of an element or sub-component.
      SlopeCan be used to create parameters that define slope.
      CurrencyCan be used to create currency parameters in addition to the default Cost parameter.
      URLProvides a web link to a user-defined URL.
      MaterialA value that is the material for the element.
      Yes/NoUsed most often for instance properties when the parameter is defined with either a Yes or No.
    7. Under Group parameter under, select the heading under which the parameter should display in the Properties palette or Type Properties dialog.
    8. Choose whether the parameter is stored by instance or type.

    9. Select the element categories to which you want to apply this parameter.
    10. Click OK.
