Object Snaps and Snap Shortcut Key Combinations

    The following table defines the object snaps listed in the Snaps dialog (Manage tabSettings panel Snaps) and the shortcut key combinations for these objects. Shortcut key combinations override snap settings for one pick.

    EndpointsSESnaps to the endpoint of an element or component.
    MidpointsSMSnaps to the midpoint of an element or component. When placing a wall insert, such as a window, door, or opening, you can use the midpoint override, SM, to snap the insert to the midpoint of the wall segment.
    NearestSNSnaps to the nearest element or component. If you turn off the Nearest object snap by clearing the check box or using the keyboard override, Revit allows jump snaps to endpoints, midpoints, and centers. A jump snap is a snap point that is more than 2 mm away from the cursor on the screen.
    Work Plane GridSWSnaps to a work plane grid.
    QuadrantsSQSnaps to quadrant points. For arcs, jump snaps are enabled.
    IntersectionsSISnaps to intersections.
    CentersSCSnaps to the center of an arc.
    PerpendicularSPSnaps to perpendicular elements or components.
    TangentsSTSnaps tangent to an arc.
    PointsSXSnaps to site points when editing points using the Move or Copy tool.
    Snap to Remote ObjectsSRThis is similar to jump snaps. When you select this option, snaps look for objects that are not near the element.
    CloseSZSnaps to close valid open loops. See Closing an Open Loop.
    Turn Override OffSSTurns off snap overrides.
    Cycle through snapsTab keyCycles through the available snap options.
    Reverse direction when cycling through snapsShift+TabCycles through the available snap options in reverse order.
