Selecting the "Install Now" option on this website is the best way to get products up and running on your computer, in far less time than traditional, Web browser–based download and install procedures. With Install Now, you select only the products and components you want, saving considerable download time. The Autodesk
installer starts directly from the Web, without having to wait for all files to download.
Install Now uses two small helper applications, Akamai NetSession Interface, and Autodesk Download Manager (DLM), which are both installed on your computer. These applications provide the latest file compression and Web delivery technology, so that products are delivered to you faster, then automatically decompressed and unpacked in the background.
Install Now intelligently checks your system for any additional software required by your Autodesk products. If these prerequisites are not already present on your computer, they will be downloaded and installed. In some cases, you will be prompted to restart your computer after the products are installed.
Installed Files
After your first download, DLM remains ready to use when you download more Autodesk products. The DLM files occupy about 14 MB on your computer. In addition to a DLM protocol handler and Akamai NetSession Interface, two small configuration files are installed. If ever you want to remove these files, complete instructions are provided here.
Install Now puts product installer files on your computer in {System drive}:\Autodesk\WI\<product name>. These files are useful for product maintenance or reinstall. But if you are using the product on a trial basis and decide not to continue using it, you can delete these files.
