Fatigue Analysis

Machinery often fails under the action of repeating or fluctuating stresses, even when the calculated stress is well below the ultimate strength of the material, and in many causes even below the yield strength. The distinguishing characteristics of such failures is that the stresses have been repeated a very large number of times. This is fatigue failure.

Autodesk Simulation's Fatigue Wizard makes complex fatigue life assessment both achievable and affordable. Some of the capabilities include:

    • Stress-based analyses or high-cycle fatigue
    • Low-cycle strain-based analyses with plasticity correction
    • Use results from a single load case or multiple load cases to define the loading history
    • Advanced options to control which mean stress corrections are used, which FEA stresses are used, what portion of the model is analyzed, and so on.
