Exclude Surfaces from the Boundary Layer Mesh

Use a boundary layer mesh for the walls of a fluid flow model.  However, a model will not converge well if the inlet or outlet surfaces have a boundary layer mesh.  We will select these surfaces and exclude them from the boundary layer mesh.

    1. Click  View Navigate Orientation Top View
      • With the  Selection Shape Point or Rectangle and  Selection Select Surfaces commands active, click  the surface facing the screen, as highlighted in the image below.

      • Right-click in the display area and select CAD Mesh Options: Exclude from Boundary Layer.
    2. Click  View Navigate Orientation Bottom View.
      • Click the surface facing the screen as shown in the image below.

      • Right-click in the display area and select CAD Mesh Options Exclude from Boundary Layer command.
TipTo exclude both surfaces in a single operation, you can select them both (using Ctrl-click for the second one) and choose the Exclude from Boundary Layer command only once. If using this alternative method, you must be careful not to accidentally clear the first selected surface when changing the view or selecting the second surface, since the highlighting for both surfaces cannot be seen and verified in a single view.
