Part designers using Autodesk Inventor or Pro/ENGINEER® CAD software have the option of using the new Autodesk Moldflow Adviser Design plug-in to evaluate their designs directly within the native CAD environment. Part designers can evaluate manufacturing feasibility, cost efficiency and environmental impact of each design iteration concurrently with product development.
This plug-in is similar to the Fill Preview feature, but it includes additional capabilities to highlight potential design problems directly on the CAD model. These capabilities allow designers to receive immediate feedback on a design and quickly react to address design issues.
The plug-in provides feedback on design manufacturability and cost efficiency, and on the environmental impact of the plastic material. Fill patterns, undercuts, poor draft angles, weld lines and sink marks are represented on the model, and these are updated virtually instantly as design parameters are altered.
The Autodesk Moldflow Adviser Design plug-in is provided free of cost as a separate installation, which can be downloaded from the Autodesk Subscription Center.
