Toolbars (Classic UI only)

    Toolbars provide you with fast, visual access to commands.

    You can select from the toolbars available, or create your own. You can also customize the toolbars, by adding or deleting icons to suit your requirements.

    Procedures

    Displaying/hiding toolbars 

    1. Display the list of toolbars, which you can do in two ways:
      • Click View > Toolbars.
      • Right-click in the toolbar area.
    2. Select the names of the toolbars that you want to display or hide.
    Note: Toolbars that are displayed have a check mark next to them.

    Customizing the toolbars

    1. Click Tools > Workspace > Customize > Toolbars, or right-click in the toolbar area and select Customize. The Customize dialog appears.
    2. Select the relevant checkboxes in the Toolbars pane to display additional toolbars.
    3. Select Show tooltips and/or Flat icons, as necessary.
    4. If necessary, click Reset to set the selected toolbar back to its default contents.
    5. Select the Commands tab. This tab allows you to customize toolbars by placing icons in different toolbars or moving the icons within a toolbar into a more logical workflow.
    6. Select a category and then click an icon to display its description. If necessary, drag the icon onto the relevant toolbar.
      Note: To remove an icon from a toolbar, drag the icon off the toolbar while the Customize dialog is open.
    7. Click OK.

    Moving toolbars

    1. Click and hold any toolbar.
    2. Drag to any area of the window and release the mouse.
      Note: Toolbars can be displayed as floating windows if dragged onto the main window.

    Creating a new toobar

    1. Click View > Toolbars > Customize Toolbars or right-click in the toolbar area and select Customize Toolbars. The Customize dialog appears.
    2. Click New, and type a name in the Toolbar name box that describes your new toolbar. Your new toolbar will open with no command buttons selected.
    3. Click the Commands tab in the Customize dialog, select a category to see the buttons, and drag all relevant command buttons to your new toolbar.
    4. Click the x in the top right hand corner of the toolbar to close your toolbar, or drag it to the required location on your toolbar area.
    5. Click OK to close the Customize dialog

    Deleting a toolbar

    You can only delete your personal toolbars.

    1. Click View > Toolbars > Customize Toolbars or right-click in the toolbar area and select Customize Toolbars. The Customize dialog appears
    2. Select the toolbar you would like to delete and click Delete.
      Note: The Delete button is only available if you select a personal toolbar. If you select a default toolbar, the Delete button becomes Reset.

    Select which toolbars are displayed, or create a new toolbar

    To access this dialog, click View > Toolbars > Customize Toolbars, then click New.

    Note: Once the new toolbar is created, click the Commands tab of the Customize dialog, and drag the required icons from the Buttons area to the newly created toolbar.
