No headersThis option specifies the model used by the Midplane/Dual Domain Fiber analysis solver to calculate fiber orientation.
The following options are available:
Select this option if you want the solver to automatically calculate a suitable Dz value based on the averaged part thickness, and then automatically calculate a suitable Ci value based on an empirical function including the calculated Dz value, the fiber volume fraction, and the fiber aspect ratio.
Select this option if you want the solver to automatically calculate a suitable Dz value based on the averaged part thickness, but you want to use a specific Ci value. Specify the desired value in the text box.
Select this option if you want to specify both the Ci and Dz values to be used in the fiber interaction calculations. Click to display the Fiber Interaction Calculation Parameters dialog.
Select this option if you want the solver to calculate the fiber orientation using the
Reduced Strain Closure model (for short fiber-filled materials) or the
Anisotropic Rotary Diffusion model (for long fiber-filled materials) combined with the Reduced Strain Closure model. The software automatically determines which model to use based on the value included in the
Filler Properties data and calculates a suitable Ci value. Specify a value in the text box.
NoteFibers having an initial length longer than 1 mm are generally considered as long fibers.
Select this option if you want the solver to calculate the orientation dynamics using the Reduced Strain Closure model, but you want to specify a Ci value. Click to display the Fiber Orientation Model Parameters dialog.
Note The default setting will be appropriate for most simulations. The alternative options have been provided for specialist users conducting research into the fluid mechanics of fiber-filled materials.
