Autodesk® Vault

    Table of contents
    1. 1. Topics in this section

Autodesk Vault is an application that is shipped with Moldflow products. Vault is a database that manages the versions of all the files that make up your project.

When Autodesk Vault is installed on the local machine, a Vault tab appears in the Moldflow product ribbon.

When saving a project to the vault database, all studies files, results, reports and folders associated with the project are saved. You can also attach other files to the project including the following:

    • CAD model of a part
    • A pdf document
    • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Excel files

The Vault database stores each version of the project and associated files, giving you a living history of the project.

In a design team, the files and associated data are stored on a server giving all team members access to the project information. Each member of the team must have a unique login name and password. Team members check out a file they need to work on. A file can only be checked out to one member at a time. This prevents more than one member from editing the same file at the same time. Once a file is checked back into Vault, other team members can refresh the local copy of the file to get the latest version from the vault.

    Note
    • Once a project has been checked into Vault, altering the project, or any associated files within Vault client, will break the file associations. The project can not then be opened.
    • Working within Vault client while another user has the same project checked out can result in work being lost. Exercise care when refreshing or checking out the project when it becomes available.
