In this tutorial you will learn how to use both the Advanced Gate Locator algorithm and the Gate Region Locator algorithm in a Gate Location analysis.
The Advanced Gate Locator algorithm creates a copy of your study and places the number of gates you require in optimal positions. The Advanced Gate Locator algorithm uses an optimization method to minimize the flow resistance (pressure) within the cavity when determining the best gate positions.
When you use the Gate Region Locator algorithm to analyze a model with no existing gates, then the part geometry, flow resistance, thickness and molding feasibility are used when analyzing the regions that have the best gate locations for the first gate.
Best additional gate locations are found in subsequent analyses when using the Gate Region Locator algorithm, by balancing the flow, so that areas filled from each gate will fill at the same time.
This tutorial takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
In this task, you will use the Advanced Gate Locator algorithm to analyze a part and automatically place a gate onto a copy of the model.
In this task, you will use the Gate Region Locator algorithm to analyze a part and find the best position for two gates.
