The boundary element method requires that all the beam elements in the model have a length that is at least 2.5 times its own diameter. Where this is not the case, singularities can occur during the boundary element integration which gives rise to poor results on these elements, especially in regions close to bends and junctions. In certain runner system cases, this requirement cannot be met. In these cases the results need to be checked carefully, or if convergence is difficult, it could be due to these elements.
