A part of the mold that fills an undercut during the injection phase.
Undercuts are features of the finished plastic part that impede the ejection of the part from the mold. A typical undercut is a recess or hole that is not orientated in the direction of the parting plane. After the cooling phase of the injection cycle, the side core is retracted, enabling the part to be ejected.
