    About Maya .Precomp Files

Maya Pre-Compositing files include hierarchical information about a scene, as well as paths to all of the rendered media. The Gateway supports reading these files as a type of multi-channel media. Each render layer in a Precomp script is treated as a clip version which can be exposed in Batch using the Version box in a Gateway Import node.

    Supported Audio File Formats

Flame supports import and soft-import of the following audio file formats.

Files of any sample rate can be imported, but they are all resampled to 48 kHz.

NoteThe Import Image menu can soft-import only a limited set of audio file formats: AIFF, AIFF-C, and WAVE. The Gateway library method has no such limitation. See Importing Media Files.

    Supported QuickTime File Codecs

Flame supports import of QuickTime® files encoded with any of the following codecs.

NoteQuickTime files exported from QuickTime Pro in Drop-Frame mode may be improperly truncated. This will result in the video and audio frames not matching when imported into Flame.
NoteQuickTime PhotoJPEG files can only be imported. You cannot soft-import QuickTime PhotoJPEG files.

    Supported DNxHD MXF File Codecs

Flame supports the import of MXF files encoded with Avid® DNxHD® codec.

NoteMaterial at 1080i encoded with the DNxHD 145 codec sometimes uses a thin raster frame format, denoted as 145-TR. It uses an frame size of 1440x1080 (NTSC) or 1280x1080 (PAL). Enable Scale to Full HD to scale the material to the full 1920x1080 frames. Disable Scale to Full HD to use the thin raster frame.

    Support for Apple ProRes Files

Flame supports the import of Apple ProRes files through a Wiretap Gateway running on Mac OS X. Review the installation documentation to learn how to install such a Gateway. You can then connect through the Network panel of a Gateway library to the Mac OS X computer and import the ProRes files.

If you are using Smoke on Mac OS X, you don't need to use a remote Wiretap Gateway. Just use a Gateway library as you usually do.

NoteProRes files are imported using a Gateway, either through a Gateway library, or through a Gateway Import node in Batch.

The following Apple ProRes codecs are supported.
