3D Work Planes

    1. 1. Topics in this section

When you select a drawing tool in the conceptual design environment, the available 3D work planes are automatically detected as the cursor passes over them in the drawing area. You can click to select one of these work planes, or explicitly set one from the named references listed in the Placement Plane list on the Options Bar. If you have several tiled 3D views, and you change the active work plane in one of the views, it changes for every 3D view.

NoteOnly named reference planes are available in the Placement Planes list.
NoteYou can directly align elements in 3D views without selecting the work plane. See Aligning Elements.

When a drawing tool is selected, the following tools become available:

    • Draw on Face: allows a planar surface to be the work plane.
    • Draw on Work Plane: allows a level or reference plane to be explicitly set as the work plane.
    • Workplane Viewer: allows editing a temporary 2D view of the current active work plane.
