Replacing an Asset of a Material

You can replace an existing asset with another that you select from the Asset Browser. When you do this, the material assumes the properties of the new asset.

To replace an asset of a material

    1. In the Material Editor, select the asset you want to replace, and then click the Replace button .
    2. In the Asset Browser, select the asset you want to add to the material.
TipTo make an asset easier to find in the Asset Browser, click one of the column heads to sort the assets by type or category.
    3. Click the Replace button on the replacement asset.

The selected asset replaces the original asset in the material, and displays in the Material Editor. You can repeat this procedure to replace other assets, or close the Material Editor and Material Browser.

The asset change initially applies only to the material in the current document. It is recommended that you rename the material to reflect the changed asset. To do this, right-click the material in the document materials list and then click Rename. You can drag and drop this material to any unlocked library.
