Migrating from one release of AutoCAD to another can be a challenge as it is never the same from release to release or from company to company. Autodesk attempts to take some of the complexities out of migrating from one release to another by providing the following tools:

Each of these tools allow you to migrate some, but not all of the customization changes that you might make to AutoCAD.

What is Not Migrated and How to Migrate Them?

None of the migration tools that Autodesk provides will migrate all of your custom files and settings. So it is important to understand what is not migrated and how you might migrate the files and settings that cannot be automatically migrated for you.

    AutoLISP and Visual LISP Files

AutoLISP (LSP or FAS) and Visual LISP (VLX) files are not migrated by any of the utlities that Autodesk provides. These files are commonly stored on a network drive that many users in a company access. It is best to place these in a common location so they can be shared and used across multiple releases of AutoCAd and therefore do not need to be moved with each release.

You will most likely need to make sure that you update the Support File Search Path on the Files tab of the Options dialog box. The Support File Search Path will need to include the location of your AutoLISP and Visual LISP files.
