RFI – Changing the Primary Responder after it has been responded to
Issue: The Primary Responder has responded and you need to change the primary responder to another person. Issue is you cannot change it when going to Edit and selecting another person you get the error “The Primary Responder has entered a response and cannot be modified.”

Resolution:
- If appropriate, copy down the current Primary Responder’s response and date to be re-inputted later. You will be removing it in the next step.
- From RFIs, select the RFI and click Respond (you do need change permissions at least for this).
- Select the current Primary Responder from the drop down. Clear out the following fields.
- Response (Text field)
- Response Due (Date Field)
- Responded (Date field)
- Select Close. You will get the window “Do you want to save changes before closing? (Click Cancel to close without saving). Select OK . If hit cancel by accident go back and do again.
Note: Do not use Save/Close or Save.

- Select Edit to go into the General tab of the RFI. On the Primary Responder dropdown list select the New Primary Responder and hit Save/Close.
Note: You should not get the error message. If you do try the steps again. It can be finicky.
