It is a good practice to do a regular file permission verification.
It is always suprising to see how many files need repairing file permissions.
This avoids error messages for unreadable files, programs that will not execute properly or error saving files.
Open: Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility
Select the drive you want to check and use the verify disk feature.
If errors are reported you can Repair Permissions.
